Bread & Roses Community Fund is the leading funder of grassroots organizing for racial, social, and economic justice in the Philadelphia region.

We are a multiracial and cross-class community of donors, community organizers, and other allies of movements for change coming together around a shared goal of radically transforming society.

Change, not Charity

We envision a Philadelphia region where justice, equity, and opportunity are available to all people, and where laws and public policy reflect a commitment to delivering economic and racial justice and ending discrimination.

We know that grassroots organizing is critical to achieving that vision. We believe that the people in the best position to create real change are those who are most affected by injustice and inequity.

Support local movements for change

Every year, we raise from the community every dollar that we give out in grants.

Will you join our community of donors?

Join a Giving Project

The Giving Project is a radical approach to fundraising for justice movements that uses deep and transformative training to build a community that crosses differences of race, class, age, and gender.

It disrupts the social norms of capitalism by putting power in the hands of that community to both raise the money and give it out.

Meet our grantees

Our grants are funded by donors who give money each year to support local movements for change.

All of the decisions on where the money goes are made by members of the community. We believe it is the people doing the work and impacted by injustice who know best where the money needs to go.
