It’s with sadness that we report on the passing of two members of the Bread & Roses community:

Former Community Funding Board member and Bread & Roses Board of Directors member Elaina Johnson passed away on May 8. Elaina moved to Philadelphia in 1975 to attend Philadelphia College of Art. She got involved with Bread & Roses through her work at Omega, a worker-owned union printing press.

People’s Fund co-founder Lou Crown passed on June 5. Lou left his job working at the Philadelphia Health and Welfare Council to help get the People’s Fund (Bread & Roses ‘ original name) off the ground. His incredible energy and passion for social change have had a tremendous impact on Philadelphia and the region.
