Community Empowerment Awards
Delaware County Wage Peace and Justice for building broad-based opposition to the war in Iraq in the US Congressional District represented by Rep. Curt Weldon, senior member of the House Armed Services Committee.
Pennsylvania Immigrant Workers Rights Coalition for its work defending the rights of immigrant workers over the past year.
Philadelphia Area Jobs with Justice for advocating for the rights of working people and encouraging the organizations that represent them (principally unions) to oppose the war in Iraq.
Unite for Peace, an inter-generational anti-war group, for its work uniting peace activists and members of local religious congregations, especially in Muslim communities.
In addition, we gave a special award to Bob Smith of Brandywine Peace Community for his 30+ years of continuous service to the peace movement.
