Vanessa Lowe

Vanessa LoweVanessa Lowe was introduced to Bread & Roses in 1992 and became an immediate fan. Her involvement with the organization has served as a core foundation for her commitment to economic and social justice in her career and volunteer pursuits. She served on the Bread & Roses Community Funding Board, precursor to the Community Grantmaking Committee, from 1997 to 2001. With this introduction to social change philanthropy, she went on to engage with other granting programs including the Beckner Advancement Fund at All Souls Church in Washington, D.C., funding community advocacy efforts in the church’s surrounding neighborhood, and the Rainbow Endowment, funding LBGT groups operating at the national level with profits from the original Rainbow Card.Vanessa’s career began in the nonprofit legal services sector. Since receiving her MBA from the Wharton School in 1998, she has worked in financial services with a focus on access to capital for underserved populations and communities. She currently works as an economic development specialist for the National Credit Union Administration. Vanessa is excited to be back in Philadelphia and working with the Bread & Roses grantmaking program once again.
