In 1994, Jonathan Lax established a scholarship fund to help gay men in the Delaware Valley pay for college. Bread & Roses Community Fund has administered the scholarship for almost twenty years, and this year’s Lax scholars are strong partners in our mission for social change. With input from hundreds of stakeholders, a committee drafted recommendations to strengthen Bread & Roses’ role in supporting community organizing for social change, like: providing more and larger grants, offering strategic training to make grassroots organizations sustainable, and helping to convene coalitions.
